Mozzafiato (Italian for "Breathtaking")

If you are seeking a MEDIUM SIZE DOG TO BE YOUR BEST TAKE EVERYWHERE WITH YOU PUP, like to go hiking and for daily runs or long walks, Work from home, or can take a pup with you. Mozzafiato is a loyal and loving companion.  Mozzafiato is inquisitive, sweet, quick to learn, and a cuddle bumpkin. He always has a wagging tail when he sees me and is so easy to fall in love with. He loves his chew antlers and rubber toys. He loves to play with his foster friend Nala but also keeps himself entertained with his toys while I am at the desk working

Mozzafiato is a sweet 5-month-old puppy at this writing. He was rescued from a Texas shelter where mom and puppy were dumped, likely due to not being sold. The Catahoula's make loyal companions. We encourage applicants to read up Catahoulas BEFORE applying. I do have to say, with consistency, positive reinforcement, and tons of encouragement, Mozzafiato is a willing learner who thrives on positive feedback. He is so cuddly and kissy. He loves his walks, ball throwing and all around time outdoors to explore. He can smell the local cougar when she is close or the coyotes and has given me warning.

Professional training is a requirement for Mozza's adoption as Catahoulas thrive best with training. They love to learn! We have recommended-approved trainers to guide you.  Mozzafiato will need a companion dog in the home. Catahoulas do best in small packs and not  as only dogs. He seems to do best with an adult middle aged female or an adult female who can mentor him. Our Lab-pittie mix is his pal at the rescue.

If you have the time, commitment, and a medium-sized or larger adult dog to mentor Mozzafiato, Then come meet this sweet boy. We don't expect he will be here long

While many breeds reach their full size at 12 months, this is not true for Catahoulas. You can expect Catahoula Cur puppies to continue growing for  18 months to two years . It's important to note that the extended puppyhood of this breed is not limited to growth. The largest breed of stock dog, a Catahoula, typically weighs between 60 and 90 pounds and stands  between 20 and 26 inches tall , and has webbed paws and floppy ears.  Often called the most versatile of all working dog breeds, the Catahoula Leopard dog is certainly an active canine. ... These dogs are  highly intelligent and quick to assess situations , making them perfect helpers in law enforcement. But at the same time, this energy they have can also match perfectly with young children. Catahoula dogs need to be well socialized with humans and other animals so they do not become defensive. Training is a Must and having another dog as a BFF is critical.

Mozzafiato has been transitioned to a human-grade diet that avoids kibble in place of a healthy canine-specific feeding regimen. We will educate his adopters on proper diet and nutrition for him and his new buddies.

To apply to adopt Mozzafiato, he has a $650.00 adoption fee. All monies will be recycled to cover medical care and rescue more dogs.
