To begin the adoption process, we require
the submission of an online application. Applications are reviewed as they come in. Leanna or I will call to chat and follow up on the application, and, if you are pre-approved, I will have the foster call you to answer questions and ask any she deems pertinent. If it seems like a good match can be made, we will set up a meet and greet with the dog you applied for and her foster, or you may visit and meet other dogs available at the facility in Arlington. Please understand many of our dogs are in foster care so only a few of the total dogs are at the rescue facility.
We highly recommend this short blog post by a fellow rescuer explaining what adopting a rescue dog means to her.

Upon pre-approval, you will also receive a feeding and care guide on canine nutrition.  All Rompin Paws rescue dogs are being fed a Human Grade and Raw dog food diet (not dry kibble) and their health is excellent.  We want our adopters to keep their new rescue dogs on this highly nutritious diet for life, for their health, vitality, and longevity.
Here is a link to one of the foods we feed the pups that you can check out while we process your application-    www.thehonestkitchen.com

Rompin Paws Rescue only feeds the dogs species-appropriate foods and educates our adopters in proper canine nutrition.
You can learn more about canine feeding and care on our website   http://rompinpawsrescue.rescuegroups.org/
We also highly recommend this book which came out in December of 2021 and is a NY Times bestseller. The Forever Dog:   https://www.amazon.com/Forever-Dog-Surprising-Companion-Healthier/dp/0063002604/ref=

Who We Are
Rompin Paws Rescue is a No-Kill companion animal rescue dedicated to helping pets in need and helping end the suffering caused by humans through overbreeding, abandonment, and cruelty. Our goal is to save one animal at a time and give it the best care possible through proper vetting, spaying/neutering, proper feeding and nutrition, training, love, and compassion. Every animal is special. Our volunteers and fosters receive training in basic care, nutrition, training, and medical emergencies so they have the tools they need to help an animal become adoptable and eventually find its forever family. Our adopters are also given valuable information and support so they know they can count on us if the need should arise. I have seen the number of animals killed in U.S shelters drop over 44 years from 20 million adoptable pets per year to 6 million per year. We still have far to go and Rompin Paws Rescue is another step on that road to a NO-KILL Nation.

Dog Adoption Guidelines
Adopting a Dog requires a lot of work and is a commitment!
Healthy dogs: As a rescue saving dogs from starvation, Neglect, and Emaciation, RPR focus's on feeding each rescued animal the healthiest dog food made of Human Grade ingredients to help them recover from their stress and starvation. We share this with our adopters and encourage them to keep their new pets on the same foods for optimal health and long life

Rescue Dogs Need Emotional Support Humans
"Before you apply to adopt, ask yourself if you can be there for this dog? When she is old and cranky? When she is scared and barks at the mailman? When she gets confused and eats your favorite shoes?

To be very, very clear, you are not buying a shirt or a car. You are applying for a job. This job has no salary, no 401K, no healthcare. This job is first, second, AND third shift. This job has no growth potential and will almost certainly end in tears.

It does, however, have fantastic fringe benefits.

This is not your dog. But if you are very, very lucky, you might be her human".

OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR DOG ADOPTION:
1   ) These dogs are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.
2) We give preference to applicants with prior small breed knowledge/ experiences for small breed applicants
3) Secure visible fencing required.
4) You must have a plan in place to socialize your dog properly.
Health: All dogs have been spayed/neutered unless they are too young. They are microchipped, current on DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies. All dogs are wormed and flea treated, tested negative for heartworm

Adoption Fees
The adoption fee is $650.00 for most dogs. Senior dogs vary by age and the amount of medical care received. The fee covers transport from shelters all over the west coast, and medications such as certain vaccines, worming, and parasite, flea/tick control, health certificate and wellness exam, any special medical care, dental as required, and care of sick or injured dogs.   We bring dogs from up from California mostly, some from Mexico, and the occasional dog from China, India, Arizona, and Texas. There are transportation costs for each dog. Then the dogs need to be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, groomed, and sometimes boarded if we can't place them with a foster, or set up at the adoption facility in Arlington. Also, we don't receive any grants so we rely solely on adoption fees and donations to fund all of our rescue efforts. Finally, we take on "Special Needs" dogs with high veterinary costs and pay for their procedures with 'leftover' funds from adoption fees for healthier dogs.

About Rompin Paws Rescue
Rompin Paws Rescue is a licensed, Non-Profit Corporation specializing in rescuing Small breed dogs, moms-to-be, moms with puppies, puppies without moms, Senior dogs, and the occasional larger breed dogs. These are dogs who were dumped by humans in parks, on the streets, and on backwood trails, as well as Shelter Death Row dogs. We are located in Western Washington State.
Our passion is to bring people and pets together. Countless dogs are without homes and in need of assistance. These are dogs who would make wonderful and faithful companions if only they could connect with the right person or family. We have made it our mission to help them do this. At the same time, we hope to enrich the lives of those who adopt them.
Our primary focus is on small mixed breeds, moms, and puppies of small and large breeds, although we do occasionally take in larger dogs. We work collaboratively with shelters, other rescue groups, and individuals, both locally and along the I-5 corridor from California to Washington
RPR was established in April 2015. We placed 400 dogs in our first year of operation in a small facility on Acreage in Arlington Washington.
We have a few local fosters and seek to increase our foster base in order to save more lives

Come Meet Our Pets
We have a home-based operation on Acreage in Arlington and Our dogs are placed in foster homes around the greater Seattle/I-5 Corridor North to Arlington area where they receive socialization and training while they await adoption.
Our Adoption Process...
Since we have a small facility on gated acreage, and Due to COVID 19, we are unable to stay open to anyone who wishes to come to visit. To facilitate successful adoptions we ask interested people and families to fill out an application for the dog or dogs they may be interested in. We screen the applications and then speak with the interested party by phone. If it looks like a good match can be made, we pre-approve the applicant and set an appointment for a meet and greet with the dogs at our facility or with the fosters who have the dogs in their care.

Thank You
