Scottie
is the sweetish little guy Ever. he is always happy, wagging his tail and saying hello to everyone he meets. Scottie's favorite past time is to be groomed and loved on. He was just groomed as of this writing and he is prancing around feeling like a little prince.
Scottie is 22 pounds at approx 2 years of age. A Doxie-Scott is a "designer" breed created by breeding a Scottish Terrier and a Dachshund. Their backs are longer than a Scotty but shorter than A dachshund and they are very sturdy and agile. Scotty can run and play with his new buddies here for hours at a time, which tells us he would do excellent in doggie daycare. He loves the girls and while he is neutered he likes to cozy up to them. his newest BFF here is Roxie. She is a Dachshund-0Jack Russell mix who can keep up with him.
Scottie was found on a highway dodging cars. The rescue stopped traffic and was able to catch him. He was confused and we assume he may have been dumped nearby. No owner was found.
Scottie is so happy to be safe, loved, well-fed and groomed. Scottie loves his toys, seems to do well in the car and likes adventure. We have not really tested him with cats, but given the predatory nature of this breed, we thank a cat-free home would be best. Scottie likes to sit up on his hind legs for a treat. He is super smart and seems like he has had some training. He will cry when he has to be let out and has not marked or lifted his leg once He is super cuddly and loving and likes to be near people at all times. He is doing really well with all of the dogs here at the rescue. We just discovered his favorite thing is going for a walk. He sees a leash and harness and he is right there at your feet waiting to be fitted and head into an adventure. Scottie does not like being left alone so he will not do well as an apartment dog. he will do best with at least one other, younger, friendly and playful dog and to have people around at least part-time, so like someone who works from home, or there are overlapping schedules. he has a bit of separation anxiety that shows up if left alone too long.
Scottie is being fed Human Grade, species-specific food and we will educate the adopters in nutrition. Scottie has an adoption fee of $550.00 which includes neuter, vaccinations, worming and parasite control and a microchip. ALL monies are recycled to save more dogs.
