Topsy (now Toby) senior dachshund needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
TOPSY Is the sweetest, cuddliest Dachshund mix Ever!! Topsy is a young senior at 10 years (dachshunds/mixes-can live 22 years with good exercise, healthy food and love. Topsy is being fostered by one of our regular fosters so he has two younger Dachshund mixes to pal around with and a nice yard to explore. Topsy requires three things unconditionally. A lap to cuddle frequently with loving hands petting him, as well as a Dog buddy to cozy up with, follow in the yard and have a canine partner, AND lots of walks. Topsy loves going on 1-3 walks a day and lives for his adventure times. Topsy young buddy was adopted out and he was more heartbroken than we had imagined but we were having trouble getting them adopted together. Topsy is currently in an awesome foster home and this has helped him transition from the move from California to Washington where everything including the weather is brand new to him. Jim his foster dad has been a boon to Topsy as he settles in and adjusts. Topsy was well-loved and cared for by his former human who is dying and needed to say goodbye. he loves attention, being talked to, learning to walk in cold weather, enjoys his foster siblings and can live all day in his foster dad's lap. Even though Topsys human was a woman, he has really taken to Jim, so he will do well with a man or a woman or both, but he must have one or more small and friendly dogs in the home as he cannot handle being an only dog. if you love these graying seniors and have room in your heart and home for another dog, please consider adding Topsy. From his foster: Topsy is the best walker. He stays right by your side with an even gait. He’s a model dog walker. He’s quiet when you are with him. He’s been eating all his food. Sleeps all night and I have to wake him up for his breakfast. He’s very sweet and loves being next to you. And very affectionate. He gets along very well with other dogs and our cat. Very low maintenance. When our dogs bark he stays quiet. Doesn’t seem to be a barker. He bonds easily with people. He like a routine and once he gets to know our schedule he does well and adapts to it. Topsy is eating a Raw and Human Grade canine-specific diet for his health and longevity. he is also receiving additional nutrients to strengthen his joints, muscles, and overall health. High-quality protein is very important for older dogs. We work with our adopters and educate them about species-specific feeding for longevity and optimal health.
