TOBY

Toby is a friendly, warm old soul and has the most relaxed personality with those he knows and trusts. He loves to be as close as possible to his people so for those that work remotely he'll calmly hang out with you during the day and sleep by your side at night. He has bursts of energy where he' ll run around the house  and does lots of yoga stretching with vigor  but the majority of the time he's a snoozer and would prefer a homebody. He doesn't play with toys despite our best effort (or he perhaps doesn't know how to yet).

Toby is starting to learn commands like "sit" and "touch" and gets proud when he figures it out. He is great on a leash once he feels secure with his environment and prances down the street  with his curled tail high . Toby does have separation anxiety. Some days he does okay being left alone for a few hours  but other days he's stressed out and howls the entire time. But when you come back there isn't anyone who's more excited to see you-his tail ferociously wags.

He also  can be nervous around people/dogs and may snip  if they come into his space so he is not initially great with children, strangers, or other dogs. But we do think he could become comfortable over time  w ith the proper introductions and training . We are seeking an adult-only home for him. Toby will be an incredible companion for anyone looking for a best friend and who can spend the time continuing his training. Toby is newly house-trained and goes outside at the same time each day but we have a puppy pad in a consistent location just in case.

Toby is very motivated by food and eats fast! He will need help slowing down at mealtime so his stomach doesn't get upset, a slow feed bowl will correct this concern. We  have recently done a food stressor test and does best with raw turkey or beef (Wild Coast) with mixed greens and he gets a raw goat milk pumpkin snack daily.   He also loves apple sauce, cucumber, and carrot.
His  raw diet also supports his health as he recently received an MRI for mild seizures. His neurologist said his spine and brain are “beautiful – textbook” but he does have a mild genetic seizure disorder , which he can live a full and happy life with when easily managed  with a healthy diet and inexpensive medication. His fosters have found it very easy to manage   and are happy to connect and answer any questions. Copies of his stressor test through Glacier Peak Holistics, DNA test through Wisdom Panel, and MRI scans/vet records will be provided.

His fosters will miss him tremendously - he’s just a total love bug to those he trusts and would be a great companion to someone who is patient with him and gives him the loving attention he truly deserves.

Toby has been transitioned to a human-grade diet that avoids kibble in place of a healthy canine-specific feeding regimen. We will educate his adopters on proper diet and nutrition for him and his new buddies. To apply to adopt Toby,  (he has a $650.00 adoption fee),   All monies will be recycled to cover medical care and rescue more dogs. Please fill out the online application using this link.             HTTP://rompinpawsrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/
