Sophie was found as a young puppy roaming the streets of Bakersfield. Sadly, she had injuries on her head from an unknown animal and was discovered to be blind after being taken to the vet by the rescue team. It was shocking to think that she had been wandering the streets blind, alone, hungry, and scared.  
Sophie is a 1-year-old dog, spayed, and up to date on vaccines. She is very sweet and loves to bond with women; she can also be slowly introduced to men. Sophie learns her environment quickly and navigates it so well that you would scarcely know she is blind. While she can be trained to walk on a lead, having a good-sized yard where she can run and play under supervision is the best scenario for her. She enjoys chewing on her split deer antler and squeaky toys, spending time cuddling, rolling over for belly rubs, and playing. Sophie wags her tail furiously when you enter a room and is so happy to know you are there. If you love a snuggle pup and have time to spend with this wonderful girl, you may be a match for her.  
Update: Sophie has been introduced to two friendly Maltese poodles and quickly became friends with them. She is pleased to have dog buddies at the rescue and has been engaging in playtime with several other super-friendly pups since then.
